Earth Day Focus: Sustainable Practices at Weaver Industries

Earth Day is a great time to pause and think about the impact people have on the planet and the choices that can help protect it. That kind of thinking shouldn't be just reserved for one day in April. Weaver Industries believes that caring for the environment and creating meaningful work can go hand in hand.

Sustainability is part of the big picture

Sustainability at Weaver is built right into how things are done. Whether it’s managing facilities, training team members or choosing materials, our organization looks for ways to be more environmentally responsible. Not only does having a sustainable mindset have a positive impact on the earth, it's also important for the community directly around us.

Having a sustainable mindset means making thoughtful decisions every step of the way, always aiming for long-term impact rather than quick fixes.

Inclusive work that supports the planet

One of the most inspiring parts of Weaver’s sustainability work is how we create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to be directly involved in making a difference. Whether it’s helping with recycling, supporting eco-friendly maintenance projects or learning new skills related to environmental care, team members play an active role.

These tasks are chances to grow, learn and take pride in contributing to a shared mission that goes beyond the workplace

The lifecycle of paper: from records to recycling

One example of how Weaver’s mission and environmental responsibility go hand in hand is the lifecycle of paper, starting with our Records Management division and ending with SecurShred. Together, these services help businesses reduce waste and protect sensitive information, while supporting inclusive employment.

At Records Management, confidential documents are carefully cataloged, stored and eventually digitized to reduce reliance on paper. Once these documents are no longer needed, they can be securely transferred to SecurShred, where they are destroyed in an environmentally friendly way. The shredded material is then recycled into new paper products, completing the cycle.

This process doesn’t just benefit the planet, it also creates meaningful jobs for individuals with disabilities at both stages of the paper lifecycle.

Simple actions that matter

Sustainability doesn’t always have to be complicated. At Weaver, small changes have added up to meaningful results over time. A few examples of what that looks like include:

These everyday habits may seem small, but they reflect a bigger commitment to being thoughtful stewards of the environment.

Always looking ahead

Even with strong efforts already in place, Weaver continues looking for ways to do more. That might mean strengthening recycling programs, exploring new energy-saving options or building more sustainability education into team training.

Earth Day is a natural moment to celebrate what’s working and get excited about what’s next. It’s also a reminder that progress doesn’t have to happen all at once. Consistent, thoughtful action can lead to real change over time.

This Earth Day, take a moment to appreciate the small steps that lead to meaningful progress. And explore how Weaver’s services like Records Management and SecurShred can help your business do good for the planet and the community.

Happy Earth Day from Weaver Industries!
